FORT WORTH, Texas – After an electric record-setting season, Martha Angelone (Cross Junction, Virgina) emerged the supreme competitor, delivering a clutch final day of the all-around race in Fort Worth, Texas, to be crowned the 2023 WRWC (Women’s Rodeo World Championship) All-Around World Champion, earning the accompanying $20,000 bonus and Coats saddle.

While the 2020NE Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo are just getting underway, the Only Gold Medal Rodeo in the World came to a close on Pioneer Day in Utah at the Days of '47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo presented by Zions Bank in Salt Lake City. Making the evening more special was that July 24 was also the National Day of the Cowboy in 2021.
Breakaway roper Tacy Kay Webb turned in the fastest time stopping the clock in a quick 1.95 seconds to win her first Gold Medal. Webb, of Madisonville, TX, got a standing ovation from the sold out crowd thanking her for her work as an ICU nurse in dealing with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

In conjunction with the 2020 Wrangler® National Finals Rodeo (NFR) at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, women ropers will compete for the first-ever world championship: The Wrangler® National Finals Breakaway Roping (NFBR) and a $200,000 purse at this three-day event.
 
Breakaway roping is one of the hottest events sanctioned by the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA), and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is proud to share the venue with some of the best cowgirls in rodeo for this event. The PRCA and the WPRA have been working together for the last year to promote breakaway roping and grow the sport.
