In close finish, Kent Farrington (USA) and Kaprice secured victory in the $137,000 EquiSafe Global Grand Prix CSI 3* at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), stopping the jump-off timers at 39.477 seconds. Nicole Shahinian-Simpson (USA) and Akuna Mattata, a 2008 Holsteiner mare (Quinar x Landwind II) owned by Carol Rosenstein and Silver Raven Farms, claimed second place with a clear jump-off score of 40.345 seconds, while Karen Polle (JPN) and her own With Wings, a 2003 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Larino x L.Ronald), sailed to third-place just milliseconds behind with a time of 40.695 seconds.

Tryon Summer 5 Recap: Hardin Towell and Billy Manjaro Stride to $25,000 Sunday Jumper Classic Win

Jack Hardin Towell (Camden, SC) and Billy Manjaro left out a few strides in the jump-off to take the $25,000 Sunday Jumper Classic win at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) to wrap up Tryon Summer 5 competition, stopping the clock at 27.795 seconds. Dena Sienne, the 2008 Dutch Warmblood mare (Van Gogh x Animo) owned by Waldman Horses BV and piloted by Roberto Teran Tafur (Wellington, FL), claimed second on a time of 28.393 seconds, while third went to Kristen VanderVeen (Wellington, FL) aboard Bull Run’s Prince of Peace, the Bull Run Jumpers Six LLC owned 2009 Holsteiner gelding (Cardenio x Contender), clearing the short course in 29.001 seconds.

Niels Bruynseels Captures the HUBSIDE JUMPING de Grimaud CSI 4* Grand Prix

Experience was the keynote of the Grand Prix which gathered together the best riders on the planet, bringing these four weeks of competition to an end in the South of France. Three experienced riders finished on the HUBSIDE JUMPING’s final podium for this summer season, ahead of the young generation, which was very threatening in this Grand Prix. Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels was the winner riding Gancia de Muze. He finished ahead of Ireland’s Denis Lynch with Cristello and Italy’s Emanuele Guadiano, with Chalou.

Kristen VanderVeen (USA) and Bull Run’s Faustino De Tili sped to a 36.579-second jump-off round to take the win in Saturday’s $73,000 JTWG, Inc. Grand Prix CSI 2* at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) at Tryon Resort. Brittni Raflowitz (ISR) and Hilton van de Breepoel, a 2007 Belgian Warmblood gelding (Contact Van de Heffinck x Opium) owned by ESI Show Jumpers, Maarten Huygens & Darragh Kerins, claimed reserve honors with a time of 39.153 seconds, with the yellow rosette going to Todd Minikus (USA) aboard the Bit by Bit Group’s Amex Z, the 2009 Zangersheide mare (Andiamo Z x Landaris), stopping the timers in 36.764 seconds with four faults.

Todd Minikus (USA) and Amex Z had a moment of disagreement on course and still dominated the jump-off in a time of 37.767 seconds to claim a $37,000 Horseware Ireland Welcome Stake CSI 2* win at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) to kick off Tryon Summer 5 competition. Just behind on a time of 37.875 seconds, Sydney Shulman (ISR) and Azilis Du Mesnil, Jill Shulman’s 2009 Selle Francais mare (Tinka’s Boy x Jarnac), took second place, with Lillie Keenan (USA) and Fasther, the Chansonette Farm LLC entry and 2010 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Vigo D’Arsouilles x Farmer), stopping the timers at 38.277 seconds for third.

TIEC Summer 4: Todd Minikus and Calvalou Capture $25,000 Sunday Classic Win

Tryon Summer 4 concluded with a win for Todd Minikus (Lake Worth, FL) and Calvalou, stopping the jump-off timers in 34.762 seconds to best the field at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC). Kristen VanderVeen (Wellington, FL) and Bull Run’s Almighty, the 2008 Hanoverian gelding (Caspar x Quidam De Revel) owned by Bull Run Jumpers Six LLC, combined to produce a 35.398 second jump-off round for second place, while the podium was completed by Ginger Pop, the 2009 Irish Sport Horse mare (Luidam x Cruising), with Alison Robitaile (Upperville, VA) in the irons for Bertram and Diana Firestone clearing the short course in a time of 35.592 seconds.

HUBSIDE JUMPING: The World Number 1, Steve Guerdat, For The First CSI5*Grand Prix of The Year

The event was eagerly awaited! The HUBSIDE JUMPING de Grimaud played host to the crème de la crème of international horses and riders for the first CSI 5* in the world since they started competing again. Judge for yourself: two thirds of the World Top 30 were present at the show organised on the initiative of Sadri Fegaier. The world hierarchy was respected on the track of the French course designer Cédric Longis, who was officiating for the first time at CSI 5*-level: Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat, the World number one, triumphed with Victorio des Frotards.  Three cheers for him! He finished ahead of the young French rider Edward Levy, and Sweden’s Peder Fredricson, the current World no.6.

Eduardo Menezes (BRA) and Magnolia Mystic Rose put in a speedy 35.115 second jump-off round to take the win in Thursday’s $37,000 Horseware Ireland Welcome Stake CSI 3* at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC). Jenni McAllister (USA) piloted Escada V S, a 2007 Swedish Warmblood mare (Escudo 19 x For Feeling) owned by Viksberg Sateri AB, to second on a time of 36.743 seconds, while Beezie Madden (USA) and Chic Hin D Hyrencourt, the Abigail Wexner-owned 2008 Belgian Warmblood gelding (Taran de la Pomme x Elanville), rounded out the podium on a time of 38.674 seconds.

TIEC Summer 4: Kelley Farmer Breezes to Bookend Podium in $40,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby

Kelley Farmer (USA) and Meaningful, co-owned by David Glefke and Oakmont Stables, scored a total of 377 points over two rounds to take top honors in Friday evening’s $40,000 USHJA International Derby at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), also claiming third with In Writing, the 2009 Holsteiner gelding (Quirado x Pandora VLL) co-owned by David Glefke and Wendy Hofmeister, on a score of 374.5. Daniel Geitner (USA) and his own mount Banks Mill, a 2011 Warmblood gelding of unknown breeding, claimed reserve with a total score of 375.5.
