COVID-19 Pandemic Forces Event’s First Cancellation

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of this year’s Hampton Classic Horse Show. The Hampton Classic, one of the world’s most prestigious equestrian events, would have been celebrating its 45th year in late August at its world-class show grounds in Bridgehampton, NY. The Hampton Classic will return in 2021, August 29 - September 5.

Dear NCHA Member:
I hope that this letter finds you and your family in good health and good spirit.
Once every hundred years or so, we are reminded not just how small our world truly is but also how strong and generous we are as people. Seeing so many of our neighbors, friends, business associates and family members supporting one another, coming together, making sacrifices for the common good and preserving, both alone and together, has given me great pride and renewed hope for our country, our economy and for humanity.

Longines Masters Series Announces the End of the Contract That Has United it With Longines since 2016

EEM (Equestrian Events Management SPRL), the founder, owner and organizer of the Longines Masters Series, announces the end of the contract that has united it with Longines since 2016. The story that has linked EEM to the Swiss watch brand first began with a partnership in 2012. The Longines Masters adventure was then born in 2013 in Hong Kong, and then in Los Angeles, before the creation of the Longines Masters Series in 2016, where they brought together the world's best show jumpers.

First Six Teams Announced for New PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge

Ahead of the newly-launched PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Monster Energy Team Challenge, presented by U.S. Border Patrol, the league has announced the rosters and competition schedules for the six teams set to compete in Division A of the new tournament.
The PBR Monster Energy Team Challenge will feature 48 of the world’s top professional bull riders split into 12 teams and two divisions, facing off throughout June at the Pendleton Whisky Let ‘Er Buck Saloon at South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada until two teams remain to compete for the championship in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in front of a live arena crowd.

Barbra Schulte Honored with 2020 Equine Industry Vision Award

Zoetis and American Horse Publications (AHP) announced Barbra Schulte as the recipient of the 2020 Equine Industry Vision Award. The annual award, established and sponsored by Zoetis, recognizes the innovation and commitment made by an individual or organization to positively influence the equine industry. Zoetis presented the award to Schulte by video since the 2020 AHP Equine Media Conference was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In light of these circumstances, we have suspended ticket sales, and we have updated our Refund Policy and are offering the following choices for 2020 ticket patrons.

Legendary cutter Buster Welch will visit with another legend, Red Steagall in an interview to be televised on Steagall’s West of Wall Street show on RFD-TV this Sunday, May 31 at 6:00 a.m. Central Time.
Welch, who is in the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame, NCHA Members Hall of Fame and AQHA Hall of Fame, and Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame is a four-time NCHA World Champion. He won the NCHA Futurity a record five times. His name is linked to such great horses as Peppy San Badger (“Little Peppy”), Mr San Peppy, Marion’s Girl, Peppymint Twist and many more.

Entries Strong for First Major Event of the Year

Following the initial deadline for entries, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby Presented by Markel reports entries are on track for a strong event. The preliminary numbers for 2020 are already at 96% of the 2019 Derby. This count does not include any late entries, which must be received in office by 10:00 am, CDT, on June 3, for the draw to be posted on June 5.
