A New Standard
The 2020 NCHA Futurity Sales concluded on Saturday, December 12, as the new standard by which all other cutting horse sales will now be measured.
Held live daily, beginning on December 7, at  Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, and with online bidding also available, the sale sessions shattered the 2014 overall all-time record average of $27,936 by an increase of 20%, for a new all-time record of $34,504 with completed sales of 83.5%.

Anticipation Is High Leading Into the NCHA 2020 World Championship Futurity

For an irrepressible mix of excitement and anxiety, nothing compares to the first day of the NCHA Futurity, with hopes and dreams riding on a clean slate of unproven 3-year-olds. And the 2020 NCHA North Texas Chevy Dealers World Championship Futurity, presented by Great American Insurance, with nearly $3 million in total prize money and 25 days of competition, in addition to the 2020 World Finals, and six days of Western Bloodstock NCHA Futurity Sales, promises to deliver all of the anticipated thrills for participants and spectators.

National Cutting Horse Association Announces Co-Sanctioned Event With United States Cutting Horse Association

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) is proud to announce Cutters in Cowtown, a co-sanctioned event with the United States Cutting Horse Association (USCHA), to be held November 21-22, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas in conjunction with the 2020 NCHA Great American Insurance World Championship Futurity presented by North Texas Chevy Dealers.
“NCHA is excited to team up with USCHA to host this event,” Jay Winborn, NCHA executive director, said. “We all share a love of cutting and working together for this event is a great way to continue to grow our industry and promote the sport of cutting.”

Smooth as Mercedes Claims Third 2020 Win in El Rancho 4-Year-Old Open Derby at the 2020 El Rancho Futurity

Smooth As Mercedes and Matt Gaines scored 224 points to win the 4-Year-Old Derby finals of the 2020 El Rancho Futurity on Monday, September 8, in Rancho Murieta, Calif. It was the third 2020 championship win for the duo. TF Reysin Chex and Morgan Cromer claimed the reserve championship and won the Gelding division with 222.5, while WR This Playgunsmart and Monty Buntin placed third with 220.5 points.

2020 Idaho CHA Futurity Daily Update

The 2020 Idaho CHA Futurity, at Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, concluded its 10-day agenda on August 30, with a full slate of Non-Pro and Amateur working finals.
Non-Pro 4-Year-Old Derby
Janet Westfall, Los Olivos, Calif., was winner of the Derby 4-Year-Old with 217 points on Sugarlesss LTE $26,061, a homegrown Kit Kat Sugar gelding, who her husband, Russ, had shown to place twelfth in the Open Finals.  Sugarlesss is out of the CD Royal daughter Lil Bit Reckless LTE $231,124, who won the 2010 Idaho Futurity 5/6 Open Classic under Russ Westfall, while Janet claimed reserve in the Non-Pro Finals.

National Youth Cutting Horse Association Announces 2021 NYCHA Bravehearts Shootout

The National Youth Cutting Horse Association (NYCHA) is honored and excited to partner with BraveHearts to host the 2021 NYCHA BraveHearts Shootout.
This exciting event will feature our regional champions in both the junior and senior divisions from each of the eight NCHA regions alongside veterans from the BraveHearts program in a team cutting invitational. Each team will consist of a youth regional champion partnered with a veteran, who will be trained by some of the industry’s top trainers from around the country.

Ty Moore wins Non-Pro 4-Year-Old Derby


Aug 17 - Ty Moore, Madill, Okla., showing Miss Blu Boon LTE $39,123, scored 222 points for his fourth West Texas Futurity championship win, and $9,000. Moore, the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $1,190,648, won the 2008 Amateur 5/6 Classic riding Hey Georgy Girl LTE $130,829; the 2009 Non-Pro Limited 4-Year-Old Derby with Heavens Little Angel  LTE $46,097; the 2017 Non-Pro 3-Year-Old Futurity on Sweet Sister Cat LTE $60,932, a daughter of Heavens Little Angel; and last year’s Non-Pro 3-Year-Old Futurity with Tweezin My Brow LTE $82,739.

Cassie Cerny wins NCHA Derby Limited Non Pro
Cassie Cerny, Brazoria, Tex., scored 222 points on Rose E, to claim her second 2020 championship win on the Thomas E Hughes daughter, in the NCHA Derby Non-Pro Limited Finals. Colette Lesh, Stillwater, Okla., was reserve champion of the NCHA Derby Non-Pro Ltd. with 217.5 points on Stevia, by Kit Kat Sugar, while Cash Ashlock, Abilene, Tex., riding CR Tuff Low Brow, by Woody Be Tuff, placed third with 216.5 points.
