As one of two riders to deliver a flawless performance across the two days of competition inside Cross Insurance Arena, Alan de Souza (Taubate, Brazil) captured his second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event win of the 2019 season Saturday evening, victorious at the Portland Chute Out in Portland, Maine.
Forty-six horse and rider combinations took part in the CSI4* Grand Prix on this last Sunday of September. Eleven combinations managed to qualify for the jump-off on the 1m55 course designed by Louis Konickx, boasting sixteen jumping efforts. Although France was the most represented nation in the jump-off, Italy ended up being victorious, thanks to Piergiorgio Bucci’s wonderful performance with Driandria.

The Brazos Bash is always known for big scores and epic runs from year to year. The arena makes for on edge circumstances which in turn equal some pretty impressive finals. It is hard to get to the finals because of the tough situation, but also it has to do with being in the heart of the cutting capital! This time of year should be impressive though, the four-year-old’s are confident, the three-year-old’s are coming into their own, and the five-six year old’s well, they are better than ever. We are steadily approaching the NCHA Futurity, but there are a few big shows left before the granddaddy of them all!
In front of a record-setting crowd inside EagleBank Arena Sunday afternoon, Chase Outlaw (Hamburg, Arkansas) captured his fourth regular-season event win of 2019 as one of two riders to go a perfect 3-for-3 at the elite PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast’s U.S. Border Patrol Invitational.
Challenging! This is how the course designed by Italy’s Uliano Vezzani for this Sunday’s CSI4* Grand Prix at the HUBSIDE Fall Tour could be described. And rightly so, as only nine of the fifty horse and rider combinations competing in this 1m55 class managed to jump clear in the first round and qualify for the jump-off. This second round, which was full of twists and turns, was won in the end by the United States’ Laura Kraut.
On a night that saw 15 qualified rides, three riders – Derek Kolbaba (Walla Walla, Washington), Marco Eguchi (Poa, Brazil) and Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) – tied for the Round 1 win at the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast’s U.S. Border Patrol Invitational inside EagleBank Arena after each recorded matching 87.25-point scores.
We are all headed our separate ways from the 2019 El Rancho Futurity and Foothill Fiesta, and man, was it one to remember! It is one to attend at least once, but if you go once you will no doubt go again. Carol Ward continues to go above and beyond for cutters, from accommodations, to the activities planned during the show, and of course the event itself! A finals night in El Rancho has a special feel unlike any other, it is a combination of the packed house, cutting under the stars, and Dru Stewart taking the time to make each trip to the herd special for each rider. It is all and all the fact that everyone is just as excited about the sport and want to watch a great cutting!
Americana 2019 proves The ‘Cow Horse’ is a Huge Success!
The final stretch of the 2019 season is in full swing. With only 13 days left, cowboys are racing to the finish line in hopes of finishing in the Top 15 of the PRCA | RAM World Standings to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
The total prize money of what was already the richest reining competition in the world among the qualifiers for the prestigious NRHA world titles, has risen by $100,000 dollars. The Open, with $101,000 in prize money, remains the highestpaying competition of its kind anywhere in the world, but there are now big incentives for reining’s base and for its more ‘showy’ competition: the purse for Open Intermediate and Limited classes along with all Non Pro levels has increased – as well as that of the Freestyle, which alone will be worth $50,000.
