The prelims for the Open and Non Pro Derby have concluded, and 73 horses are advancing to the Open and Non Pro finals on Saturday, June 11th.
The 2021 edition of the AMERICANA, held in Augsburg, Germany, is host of the 2021 ERCHA/NRCHA Futurity and Derby. Following the rein work qualifier which counted an impressive 43 horse-rider-combinations in the Futurity and 20 in the Derby Open, it was a tie between Alfons Hoefkens and Giovanni Campanaro in the Futurity and a tie between the latter and Schopfer in the Derby.

It started with a solid two sets of Limited Open and Intermediate Open finalists at 8 a.m. Then, at noon, the Open finalists took to the arena dirt to ride for their share of a $208,076.29 purse. When the last cow circled up, it was Corey Cushing on top of the Open.

A multi-year agreement between the world-renowned equestrian facility and NRCHA makes Scottsdale, Arizona, home to the NRCHA Derby, which features 4- and 5-year-old reined cow horses, beginning in June 2021 through 2023.
