Colonels Shining Gun Honored as NRHA Million Dollar Sire

In 2010, a flashy young colt burst onto the reining scene. By National Reining Horse Association Thirteen Million Dollar Sire Gunner, and out of Shining Little Peach (by Shining Spark), Colonels Shining Gun was poised to do great things. In early November, the stallion, affectionately known as Jojo, added another line to his resume when he became a Million Dollar Sire. While he’s now known for his prepotency, he proved his prowess in the show pen early on.

Our Condolences: Shining Spark 1989-2021

On New Years Eve 2021, Carol Rose announced that National Reining Horse Association Four Million Dollar Sire Shining Spark had been laid to rest on December 27.
Immediately, condolences and memories began to flood the pages of social media, telling how the palomino stallion, by Genuine Doc out of Diamonds Sparkle, had affected their life.
Shining Spark became the cornerstone of Rose’s breeding program for decades, but before he left his indelible mark in his progeny, he proved his prowess in the reining arena.

News From the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity

OPEN FUTURITY CHAMPIONS CROWNED
The 2021 National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity® Finals on Saturday, October 23, at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, might go down as the loudest and the most intense in many years. A clear front runner didn’t emerge until the last set of cow work. When Darren Moore called out an incredible judge’s score of 226 for Zak 34 and NRCHA Million Dollar Rider Justin Wright’s fence run, it was clear who was adding Open Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion to his résumé.

NRCHA Stallion Stakes Open & Non Pro Champions Awarded

Six set of finalists put on a show worthy of the Las Vegas lights on Saturday, April 3, at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center for the 2021 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Open and Non Pro Finals! When the last cow was circled Erin Taormino and Hazardouz Materials, owned by Linda Mars, were the Open Champions, and Hope Mills and A Gritty Kitty took home the Non Pro Championship.

2020 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Spectacular Daily Update

The National Reined Cow Horse Association has returned to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, for the Stallion Stakes. For eight consecutive years, the elite South Point Arena and Equestrian Center has been home to the NRCHA Stakes.

The event, historically held in March, features 4-and 5-year-old horses who are sired by Subscribed Stallions. This year, the rescheduled Stakes will also feature a Pre-Futurity for 3-year-old horses. In addition to these robust limited age events, the Stakes offers a complete set of horse show classes and several three-event spectaculars. For nine days, the top horses and riders in the country will vie for $500,000 in payouts and a plethora of prizes.
