• Chrome Cash Pays $116,140 at the 2022 NCHA Futurity

    Chrome Cash’s huge purses at the 2022 NCHA Futurity made it even more rewarding to ride a Paint. More than $116,000 was paid out across nine divisions, with 224 Paints vying for the cash. Non-Pros and Amateurs cashed in especially big, scoring $63,505 in Chrome Cash just for them.

    AQHA has received word of the death of AQHA Past President and American Quarter Horse Hall of Famer Dr. Glenn Blodgett. “Doc Blodgett” was a man of few words, with even fewer to waste. When it came to his profession, practice and passion, Dr. Blodgett deemed it best to keep it simple.

    The W.T. Waggoner Estate and King Ranch have been breeding American Quarter Horses for 100 years.

    The American Quarter Horse Association is proud to recognize two historic Texas ranches that have been breeding American Quarter Horses for 100 consecutive years: W.T. Waggoner Estate and the King Ranch. Even though the Association and its registry were founded in 1940, these two ranches already had horse herds, several of which were inspected and admitted for registration with AQHA.

    The western riding scene has reacted with great sadness to the death of Horst Geier. The initiator and longtime manager of Americana passed away this week at the age of 79. Horst was one of the great visionaries of European western riding and western horse breeding, who, among other things, made Americana what it is today. "We were saddened to learn of the death of our longtime business partner and companion Horst Geier," said AFAG management. "Our thoughts are with his family and all his friends!"
