    Roots run deep in Texas for Road to the Horse. This year, the prestigious colt starting competition will make the unprecedented move from the Kentucky Horse Park to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2021 event. Road to the Horse 2021 will retain the same dates, during the last weekend of March, and will work diligently to comply with all health and safety protocols for attendees. Additional event details, including venue specifics, will be released next week.

    During a meeting on September 15, the AQHA Executive Committee considered an application for affiliate status from Deutsche Quarter Horse Association (DQHA), which served as the AQHA affiliate in Germany for more than 40 years until its affiliate status was terminated on February 15, 2020. This separation was driven by the inability to reach agreement with the DQHA board on topics of security and sharing of AQHA data, as well as AQHA’s position as studbook of origin for the American Quarter Horse.


  • In 2021 Aqha-Approved Shows Will Have the Opportunity To Offer Additional Age Divisions in the Popular Ranch Riding Class

    Beginning in 2021, AQHA shows will be able to offer additional age divisions in ranch riding: For horses 3 years of age and older, the class can be offered as Level 1, junior, senior or an all-age open-division class. For youth and amateur exhibitors, options include an all-age class for Level 1 youth, youth, 13-&-Under and 14-18 youth, Level 1 amateur, Level 1 Select amateur, Select amateur and amateur. The rule change is designed to enhance the showing experience by providing more opportunities for exhibitors in this ever-popular class.
