Saturday in Kreuth, Germany, was all about the NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity 4-year-old Finals. Taking the lead in the Level (L)4 Non Pro division was Spain with Andreu Nogue Puig and his mare, Simple The Best 66, closing their powerful run with a 221.5. The Breeders Futurity is open to horses nominated in the Breeding Program which counted an amazing 760 weanlings nominated in 2021.
Level 4 Non Pro
Young Andreu Nogue Puig rode his Simple The Best 66 (NRHA Million Dollar Sire Inferno Sixty Six x ARC Yellow N Lime) to the Championship with an impressive run paid back with a 221.5. The duo performed a stellar ride that was not only awarded by the judges with the highest score in the Non Pro Finals, but also by the crowds that cheered louder than for anyone else in the arena!
Nogue Puig was thrilled about his run. “This is a special show for me, because I was here four years ago and finished Reserve Champion, so it feels great to come back and do even better. I’m really happy, my horse was just amazing and everything felt good. She stopped well, we had clean circles, and it was just great.” Vogue Puig purchased the mare when she was six months old, started her himself, and up until recently trained her at home in Spain. “Two weeks ago we took her to Guglielmo [Fontana], who helped me with her and then we came here. After this show, we are going back to Italy for the Italian Futurity.” He closed by thanking his family and his team for all the support.
Manuel Bonzano & RTR Passage For Hell
Level 3 and 2 Non Pro
Italian Manuel Bonzano took Reserve honors in Level 4 aboard RTR Passage For Hell (NRHA Million Dollar Sire Inferno Sixty Six x Holly Conquistador) scoring a 215. The score also brought him the L3 and L2 Championships.
“I feel really good today, because this is only my second show after a three-year break that I had to take from showing. I am happy with all my horses here. Today I felt more confident in the finals than yesterday and it worked out. This horse [RTR Passage For Hell] is a great stopper, so that helped us get the score we got.” Bonzano bought the horse from his trainer NRHA Professional Dominik Reminder, whom he also thanked for all the help getting to the winners’ circle. “I knew my horse and I had to spend some time together to get along and I feel like this time it worked out and I figured out how to show him. Now I am looking forward to the Italian Futurity with him,” said Bonzano. With his second horse, Miss Machine Gun (Yankee Gun x Sanditch Rooster), Bonzano scored a 214 clinching the L3 and L2 Co-Reserve Championships.
Marisa Speidel rode Spook Maq Doll (NRHA Seven Million Dollar Sire Smart Spook x Gunners Doll) to tie Bonzano for the L2 Co- Reserve Championship.
Lucie Lina Egenter & Eyes Of Whiz
Level 1 Non Pro
Go Round winners Lucie Lina Egenter and Eyes Of Whiz (One Gun x Luga Whiz) were last to enter the show pen in the Non Pro Finals. Trying to repeat the success from the Go Round, the duo started their run strong. After a bobble, they walked out with a 213.5 score and the L1 Non Pro and Youth Futurity Championships.
Egenter, who rides with NRHA Professional Grisha Ludwig, was happy with her run. “I was little more nervous than other times since we were the last to go in, but I knew my horse could do it, so I was confident. We had some bad luck, but we still had a great run. I tried to go faster, because he is a lazy horse, so he had to run hard, but he did well,” said Egenter. “He has a great personality and acts more like a dog than a horse and I love him,” laughed the young rider.
Youth Futurity scores are calculated adding the Non Pro Futurity Go Round and the Finals score. Egenter and her mount closed with a composite score of 433.5 (220+213.5) for the Championship.
Maximilian Koch rode Gone Whiz Sparks (Spark N Whiz x Peppys Roselena) to a score of 211.5 for the L1 Non Pro Reserve Championship.
Christin Beisel and Untouchable Sir (NRHA Million Dollar Sire SG Frozen Enterprize x Miss Baby Whiz) finished Reserve Champions in the Youth Futurity closing with a 409 (205.5+203.5).
