Girinon Triumphs at NRHA European Derby Open and Qualifies for The Run For A Million 2025 Million Dollar Competition

Lyon, November 2 – The sold-out Oklahoma Arena was electric on Saturday night as 62 Open Finalists competed in the $182,361-Added NRHA European Derby Open Finals. With just one horse-rider combination left in the second section, the pressure was on for French rider Arnaud Girinon and his striking 5-year-old palomino, Flexing Guns N Town. The score to beat was a 228 scored by Germany’s Nina Lil; without hesitation, Girinon delivered a breathtaking performance that earned him a score of 230 from the judges.

If the Longines Equita Lyon, Concours Hippique International were a kingdom, there is no doubt that Germany's Isabell Werth would be its Queen! Since the launch of the FEI Dressage World Cup stage in Lyon in 2009, the German rider had already won this major event in the Rhône-Alpes region six times. And today, she made it seven! Riding DSP Quantaz, the star of dressage in Lyon won this World Cup stage for the seventh time (in fifteen years) in front of an adoring crowd.

Longines Equita Lyon Concours Hippique International: FEI Dressage World Cup™ Grand Prix Presented by Cre-Ara

This morning, the FEI Dressage World CupTM got underway at the Longines Equita Lyon, Concours Hippique International, the first of four FEI World CupsTM stages to be held at the event this year! The world's top riders battled it out in the Grand Prix presented by CRE-ARA in the arena at Lyon-Eurexpo. It ended with another victory for the queen of the discipline, Germany's Isabell Werth, riding DSP Quantaz, and an extremely fine third place for France's Pauline Basquin, on Sertorius de Rima Z IFCE, the Olympic pairing, who this summer had the spectators in Versailles dancing to sound of Alors on Danse (So, let's dance) by Stromae during their freestyle routine!

The NRHA European Derby Kicks Off at Equita Lyon With De Iulio Leading the Non Pro Qualifier

Lyon, October 30 — The 2024 NRHA European Derby launched with a thrilling start at the Longines Equita Lyon international show, where the ELEMENTA Non Pro Derby Qualifier took center stage in the Oklahoma Arena today. The event’s 14th edition opened with 122 competitive horse-and-rider duos, each vying for a coveted spot in the Non Pro finals on Friday, November 1.

One of Europe’s largest equestrian trade and horse shows, Equita Lyon in Lyon, France, is host to the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Derby. Equita Lyon to Host Only TRFAM Million Dollar Qualifier Outside U.S.

The Run For A Million (TRFAM), reining’s hottest and richest event, is expanding overseas with the addition of a third qualifier for its Million Dollar Competition.
Traditionally, in order to gain entry to TRFAM’s Million Dollar Competition (MDC), riders had to qualify at one of two events: the Cactus Reining Classic, during which the top 10 riders were invited to the MDC; or TRFAM’s $100,000 Open Shootout, which called back the top six.Now, thanks to an agreement with Equita Lyon, the host of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Derby, European riders will get a shot at qualifying for the prestigious competition on their home turf. The qualifier, which will be the only one held outside the United States, will take place Nov. 4 during this year’s NRHA European Derby in Lyon, France.

2022/2023 Western European League: Epaillard and Caracole de la Roque Win On Home Turf

He has long had a reputation as a super-fast rider, and today Julien Epaillard set the home crowd alight when scorching to victory with the great mare Caracole de la Roque at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2022/2023 Western European League qualifier on home ground in Lyon (FRA).
The 45-year-old Frenchman was in flying form all week, with three big wins already under his belt including Friday night’s Longines Grand Prix in which he steered Caracole to pip Germany’s Jana Wargers and Limbridge. Today it was Brazil’s Marlon Zanotelli and VDL Edgar M who had to settle for runner-up spot while The Netherlands’ Jur Vrieling and Long John Silver finished third.
