Professionals of the Year Announced

AQHA honors Leonard Berryhill, Karen Graham and Marilyn Randall as the 2019 AQHA Professionals of the Year.

The American Quarter Horse Association is proud to announce the 2019 Nutrena Don Burt AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year, Nutrena AQHA Professional Horsewoman of the Year and Most Valuable Professional award winners.
These individuals will be recognized in November at the AQHA Awards Celebration in Oklahoma City, coinciding with the 2020 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show.

The two speed sports see plenty of crossover in the breeding shed.

It’s easy to say that barrel racing and flat racing are similar in that the fastest horse wins. On the other hand, the two segments of the industry can sometimes seem worlds apart. In recent years, however, those two distinct worlds have come closer, as barrel racers seek to add more speed to their bloodlines, and racehorse breeders and stallion owners seek new revenue streams.

In a Rare Class: Cochise Retires with Average Ride Score of More than 90 Points

Gene Owen went outside to feed his livestock on Tuesday morning in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, and he could not help but laugh at what he saw.
Down the alleyway of his backpens, Owen saw Cochise standing in the middle and rubbing his head against one of the fences.
Owen had decided to retire Cochise less than 24 hours earlier, and the 9-year-old bull had snuck out of his pen in the middle of the night.

- First PREMIER Bank PREMIER Bankcard Invitational event set to take place at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Friday, April 3, Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
- Billings Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, event set to take place at First Interstate Arena – MetraPark on Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 in Billings, Mont.
- Ty Murray Invitational, presented by Isleta Resort & Casino, event set to take place at Dreamstyle Arena at the Pit on Friday, April 24, Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 in Albuquerque, N.M.
