APHA & Daniel Patton Partner to Expand All-Breed Ranch Horse Opportunities

Calling all ranch horses! A new partnership between serial entrepreneur and horseman Daniel Patton and the American Paint Horse Association is expanding opportunities for ranch horses of all breeds. The team’s International Ranch Horse Association will offer expanded competitions for ranch horses, including offering IRHA world championship classes and expanded Ranch Horse Triple Crown events during the APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas.

2022 $84,187-Added NRHA European Non Pro Derby: Youth Riders Steal the Show In Lyon

In front of a full house, 47 horse-and-rider combinations made their way to the $84,187-Added 2022 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Derby Non Pro Finals on Friday at Equita Lyon in Lyon, France. No stranger to the Equita Lyon arena, Sára Karasová of the Czech Republic returned this year to hold on to her last year’s title and added on the Level (L)4 Championship.

Horst Geier, Known as “Mr. Americana,” This European Visionary Died the Week of September 16, 2022.

The western riding scene has reacted with great sadness to the death of Horst Geier. The initiator and longtime manager of Americana passed away this week at the age of 79. Horst was one of the great visionaries of European western riding and western horse breeding, who, among other things, made Americana what it is today. "We were saddened to learn of the death of our longtime business partner and companion Horst Geier," said AFAG management. "Our thoughts are with his family and all his friends!"

Team USA Wins 2022 Youth World Games

With solid performances in each class and red ribbons across the board, Team USA successfully defended their title and won the APHA Youth World Games held August 21-25 during the European Paint Horse Championship in Kreuth, Germany.
Nyeah Krasnow-Osorio of Brooklyn, New York; Riley Francis of Richland, Michigan; Abigail Zawisza of Findlay, Ohio; and Cody Dulin of Nampa, Idaho, each placed second in their respective classes, earning Team USA 36 points and the overall win.

NRHA Futurity to Feature APHA’s Chrome Cash Incentive

The American Paint Horse Association’s popular Chrome Cash incentive program will add $5,000 exclusively for registered Paints at the 2022 National Reining Horse Association Futurity, set for November 24-December 3 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Chrome Cash classes will be offered as part of the Level 4 Open Futurity and the Level 4 Non Pro Futurity, with $3,000 and $2,000 added, respectively. Both solid and regular registry Paints can compete in the Chrome Cash classes, which are paid out according to the NRHA payout schedule.

Ambassador Denise Bauer Saddles up Paint Style at NRHA European Futurity

In a series of historic firsts, U.S. Ambassador to France Denise Bauer visited the 2022 NRHA European Futurity May 28 and rode an American Paint Horse after APHA extended an invitation to the U.S. Embassy in Paris.
Taking place about an hour south of Paris at BO Ranch, Ambassador Bauer toured the “French cathedral of reining,” visited with European Paint Horse owners, watched the competition and saw firsthand a beautiful example of American agriculture exports—horses foaled in the United States or produced using imported genetics.
