2020 Congress Trainer Award Program – Brought to You by Tribute Equine Nutrition

COLUMBUS, OH - Under normal circumstances, the entire quarter horse industry is abuzz this time of year as we all prepare for the All American Quarter Horse Congress. For so many of us, this is traditionally our favorite time of year! We recognize the announcement to cancel this year’s Congress was such a disappointment.

Tribute Equine Nutrition approached the Ohio Quarter Horse Association with the desire to bring some joy back to October. Together, we partner to launch the 2020 Congress Trainer Award Program – Brought to you by Tribute Equine Nutrition!

2020 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Spectacular Daily Update

The National Reined Cow Horse Association has returned to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, for the Stallion Stakes. For eight consecutive years, the elite South Point Arena and Equestrian Center has been home to the NRCHA Stakes.

The event, historically held in March, features 4-and 5-year-old horses who are sired by Subscribed Stallions. This year, the rescheduled Stakes will also feature a Pre-Futurity for 3-year-old horses. In addition to these robust limited age events, the Stakes offers a complete set of horse show classes and several three-event spectaculars. For nine days, the top horses and riders in the country will vie for $500,000 in payouts and a plethora of prizes.

2020 Idaho CHA Futurity Daily Update

High notes from 2020 Idaho Futurity final day
The 2020 Idaho CHA Futurity, at Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, concluded its 10-day agenda on August 30, with a full slate of Non-Pro and Amateur working finals.
Non-Pro 4-Year-Old Derby Janet Westfall, Los Olivos, Calif., was winner of the Derby 4-Year-Old with 217 points on Sugarlesss LTE $26,061, a homegrown Kit Kat Sugar gelding, who her husband, Russ, had shown to place twelfth in the Open Finals. Sugarlesss is out of the CD Royal daughter Lil Bit Reckless LTE $231,124, who won the 2010 Idaho Futurity 5/6 Open Classic under Russ Westfall, while Janet claimed reserve in the Non-Pro Finals.

FORT WORTH, Texas – In front of a raucous Texas crowd, home state hopeful Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) dominated the opening night of competition for the elite PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast WinStar World Casino and Resort Invitational. Davis won Round 1 and tied for the victory in the 15/15 Bucking Battle, as Dickies Arena in Fort Worth welcomed back fans for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic with new safety protocols in place.

National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC): Ryan Humphrey Wins SmartPak Non Pro Futurity on Shots R Fired

The first week of the 2020 National Reining Breeders Classic culminated with the SmartPak Non Pro Futurity on Saturday. Longtime NRBC and Tulsa Reining Classic sponsor, SmartPak opted for the sponsorship of the $27,000 added SmartPak Non Pro Futurity in this transition year. It's a perfect fit for SmartPak at a time when the highly popular "Texas Hold-em" night could not be held due to COVID-19 restrictions.

National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC): Fappani and Lengel Tie for Win of Hollywoodstinseltown Open Futurity

The pinnacle of futurity competition at the National Reining Breeders Classic was held Friday, August 28, with the incredible $61,000 added Hollywoodstinseltown Open Futurity. The 114-entry futurity featured top riders from all over, and when the last horse had left the arena, there was tie for the win. Abby Lengel and Andrea Fappani had both marked a 224. While they could have elected to run-off for the title, they decided to stay co-champions.
Fappani and Lengel weren't the only co-champions crowned, as Arno Honstetter and Kole Price tied for the Open Level 3 win, and Diego Gaona and Julie Roshelli posted identical scores to top the Open Level 1.

National Youth Cutting Horse Association Announces 2021 NYCHA Bravehearts Shootout

The National Youth Cutting Horse Association (NYCHA) is honored and excited to partner with BraveHearts to host the 2021 NYCHA BraveHearts Shootout.
This exciting event will feature our regional champions in both the junior and senior divisions from each of the eight NCHA regions alongside veterans from the BraveHearts program in a team cutting invitational. Each team will consist of a youth regional champion partnered with a veteran, who will be trained by some of the industry’s top trainers from around the country.

Andrea Stillo Elected to RHF Board of Directors

The Reining Horse Foundation Board of Directors has elected Andrea Stillo of Pilot Point, Texas, to serve on the Board of Directors. Under RHF Bylaws, the recommendation was reviewed and approved by the NRHA Board of Directors at the August meeting.

The much-awaited for Campus Life Experience TV Series is ready to air!
The first series of the TV program with a focus on equitation — a mix between a reality show and documentary — will be aired in Italy on MS Sport on Digital TV and by MS Channel on SKY TV (Channel 814).

2020 NRCHA World Championship Qualification

After extensive research and consideration, the NRCHA Board of Directors have modified World Championship qualification requirements for the 2020 show season. The show season will end on November 15, 2020, as usual, but the "top twenty" and "in the same region" requirements have been waived for this year.

In the shadow of Utah’s state capitol building, world No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) finished the 2020 TicketSmarter Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, with a bang. The Brazilian’s championship round ride had the socially distanced crowd erupting inside Days of ’47 Arena.
