La Chapelle-La-Reine, April 2—Provided by International Horse Press— The weather at the $17,500-Added BO Ranch Kickoff chilly, but the riders certainly warmed up those around them with their performances today!

The evening closed with the $5,000-Added Chateaux Prestige NRHA Open and $2500-Added MMA Intermediate Open. The exciting class saw Stefano Ferri and Lil Modern Spark (Spark N Whiz x Lil White Gun) owned by BO Ranch tie for top honors in the Open with Axel Pesek riding his own Reloaded Gun (NRHA Thirteen Million Dollar Sire Gunner x Shes Berry Flashy) who also claimed the Intermediate Open with a 147 score.

The BO Ranch Kickoff: A Special Day for the 2021 NRHA Non Pro World Champions

La Chapelle-La-Reine, April 1—Provided by International Horse Press— The BO Ranch Show inaugural $17,500-Added KICKOFF provided more exciting competition on the second day of the event.

It was a very special day for 2021 NRHA Non Pro World Champions Nikolai Stiller and his mount Hollywood Gunrunner (NRHA Thirteen Million Dollar Sire Gunner x Dun It For Missy). The duo topped the $3,500-Added Quarter Dream NRHA Non Pro with a great 144.5 score, proving their winning streak has moved on to 2022. “We purchased this mare when she was 6 months old and have gone a long way since,” said a smiling Stiller after his winning run.

Nathan Piper Surpasses One Million in NRHA Earnings

It was nearly three decades ago that Nathan Piper showed for the first time in a National Reining Horse Association-sanctioned event. He and Faith Dry Doc topped the Youth 14–18 class at a Texas Reining Horse Association show, and the scene was set for a career that would take him to the highest levels of reining competition.

The BO Ranch Show Season Takes Off

La Chapelle-La-Reine, March 31—Provided by International Horse Press— The intense BO Ranch Show Season is off to a start with the inaugural KICKOFF event.

With two days open to riders able to try their horses in the impressive show arena, on Wednesday, March 30, competitors were officially welcomed with the Riders Meeting and today made their way into the pen to perform in the NRHA Jackpot Open and Non Pro classes.

Spooks Gotta Whiz Passes Four Million in NRHA Offspring Earnings

Less than four years after becoming a National Reining Horse Association Million Dollar Sire, Spooks Gotta Whiz achieved Four Million Dollar Sire status.
The stunning stallion is by NRHA Million Dollar Sire Spooks Gotta Gun and out of Prettywhizprettydoes. Bred by Clint Haverty, the 2007 stallion is owned by Michell Anne Kimball, who purchased the horse from Duane Hicks in 2009 after meeting him at the High Roller Reining Classic.

2022 NRHA European Futurity to be Held at BO Ranch With New Entry Fee Format

Friday, March 4, 2022—The 2022 NRHA European Futurity, originally slated to be held in Wels, Austria, changed location following the premature passing of organizer Otto Ziehfreund. Owners Grégory and Claire Morat of BO Ranch located in La Chapelle-la-Reine, France, in the heart of France’s horse country, graciously offered their beautiful facility as host to this year’s edition on May 23-29.

NRHA Year-end Statistics Reflect Impressive Growth

In recent years, the planet has been in a state of upheaval and change. COVID-19 had a staggering impact. Some marginal businesses thrived and grew. Other long successful companies couldn’t survive and people lost jobs as well as lifelong enterprises.
For the equine industry, facing a pandemic was especially challenging. In early 2020, the National Reining Horse Association Board and Executive Committee scrambled along with the rest of the horse world to make correct decisions – to plan, predict, and survive. Now, with two years of history, the state of the reining industry shows very positive statistics according to the data released during the NRHA Winter Meetings, held Feb. 13-16 in Denton, Texas.

Peter Phinny Memorial Leading Futurity Sire Award to Debut at NRHA Derby

The late Peter Phinny will be honored by the National Reining Horse Association with the establishment of the Peter Phinny Memorial Leading Futurity Sire Award. This honor will remain a fitting representation of the legacy of this longtime NRHA member and supporter’s contributions to the association and the sport.
The perpetual award will be presented each year, beginning in 2022 at the 6666 Ranch NRHA Derby presented by Markel in June. The Mehl Lawson Bronze which represents the award will remain in the NRHA office in Oklahoma City.
