NRHA Announces Kathy Gordon as its Newest Million Dollar Owner

The National Reining Horse Association is proud to recognize Kathy Gordon as its newest Million Dollar Owner. Alongside her husband, Marc Gordon—who earned his own NRHA Million Dollar Owner status in 2024—Kathy has been an instrumental force behind the success of Gordon Quarter Horses, a program that continues to shape the sport of reining with its outstanding horses and strong partnerships.

Kathy’s rise to this milestone is the result of years of dedication, a keen eye for talent, and a deep passion for the reining horse industry. Horses owned, bred, and nominated by Kathy and Marc Gordon have consistently stood out in the show pen, earning major titles and significant checks across NRHA major events and derbies.
Kathy Gordon’s milestone as an NRHA Million Dollar Owner was nearly secured at the High Roller Reining Classic, where Jacs Lucky Star (Jacs Electric Spark x Whizs Lucky Star)—owned by Marc and Kathy Gordon and bred and nominated by Marc Gordon—earned Reserve Champion honors in the Derby in both the Level 4 and Level 3 Open, adding $7,065 to the horse’s $32,431 in lifetime earnings. At the same event, Stoppin Spook (Late Night Stopper x Please Dont Spook)—also owned, bred, and nominated by Marc Gordon—swept both the Level 4 and Level 3 Open in the Futurity, contributing $13,086 LTE.

Those High Roller performances brought Kathy within reach of the milestone, but she officially crossed the $1 Million Owner mark at the Best of the West Derby, where Jacs Lucky Star placed 3rd in the Level 4 Open Derby for $3,369 and 1st in the Level 3 Open for $2,261. Additionally, Whizs Stoppin Star earned 4th in the Level 1 Open for $394, and 5th in the Level 2 Open for $368.90, sealing the achievement.
These recent successes join a growing list of accomplishments for the Gordons’ program, including Electric Gunn (Gunnatrashya x Electric Barbie)—owned by Marc and Kathy Gordon, bred and nominated by Marc Gordon—who boasts more than $80,000 LTE after finishing 8th in the MS Diamonds TX Level 4 Open at the 2023 NRHA Futurity. Following in his footsteps, Smoken Barbie (Gunnatrashya x Electric Barbie)—owned by Marc and Kathy Gordon, bred and nominated by Marc Gordon—has added $29,089 LTE, further showcasing the strength and consistency of this proven cross and the Gordon breeding program as a whole. Electric Barbie is a great mare under the ownership of Marc and Kathy, who was a great show horse in her own right, amassing more than $67,000 in lifetime earnings and proving herself to be a notable producer.

Together, Kathy and Marc have built one of reining’s most successful and respected programs, emphasizing thoughtful breeding, strong horsemanship, and partnerships that bring out the best in each horse. Their collaboration with NRHA Million Dollar Rider Gennaro Lendi has been especially fruitful, with Lendi piloting numerous Gordon-bred and -owned horses to top finishes at NRHA major events.
Kathy’s addition to the ranks of NRHA’s Million Dollar Owners cements the Gordons’ place among reining’s elite families. Her milestone reflects not only her personal success but also the shared vision and lasting impact she and Marc have had on the industry.
The NRHA congratulates Kathy Gordon on this remarkable achievement and celebrates her continued influence on the reining horse community.
